Detroit Zoo’s new director is 1st lady in 93-year record

The Detroit Zoo has named a new director and she’ll be the 1st girl to maintain the placement in the zoo’s 93-yr history.

Dr. Hayley Murphy, a veterinarian who has been deputy director of Zoo Atlanta, will become director and chief executive officer for the Detroit Zoological Culture.

Murphy, who begins her new task on Nov. 1, will succeed longtime and acclaimed director Ron Kagan, who is retiring. Her appointment adopted what Detroit Zoological Society board chair Tony Early explained was a prolonged nationwide research.
